More about our pigs

The pigs are fed on barley, soya, flaked maize, dried peas, sugar beet shreds all mixed together with treacle.

They also have potatoes and turnips supplied by local growers at John O' Groats.

Aggie, at the age of 5 years old, is our oldest sow. She is very friendly and is a great mother. She usually produces large litters - her record is 17 piglets.

This is Hilda who is 2 years old and
also a great mother.

Charlie, our first boar, is  5 years old and a gentle giant.
He loves a scratchy back and will follow you anywhere if you have a bucket of food!

All of our pigs spend most of the year outside, coming in only when the weather turns too horrible for them making the parks too wet and muddy.

Farrowing takes place in our specially built farrowing pens where the piglets have crush bars on the wall to keep them safe and a heat lamp for the first few weeks. It's amazing how quickly they manage to find the cosy corner!
